Revitalised Willem II have moved into the Eredivisie top ten after a 2-0 win in Rotterdam.

The first half in Rotterdam saw few chances with Fran Sol heading wide for Willem II while at the other end Khalid Karimi hit the bar with a strike on the stroke of half time.

Dico Koppers has been revelling in his role as a winger in recent weeks and he opened the scoring in the 62nd minute. Sixty second later it was 2-0 for the visitors as Jordy Croux weaved into the Excelsior box before setting up Erik Falkenburg to net.

Excelsior finished the match with ten men as substitute Danilo Pantic saw red for a clumsy challenge on Dries Wuytens.

The victory sees Willem II rise to ninth while Excelsior remain second bottom.
