Excelsior’s unbeaten run of five games ended on Sunday as they were hammered 5-0 by PEC Zwolle in Rotterdam.

pecexcemfjfnjfThe visitors opened the scoring after 17 minutes as forward Stef Nijland, starting in place of the suspended Tomas Necid, raced past his marker to prod Jody Lukoki’s cross past Coutinho at the near post.

Things did not improve for the home side in the second half as six minutes after the break Nijland curled brilliantly into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to make it 4-0 before Saymak added his second with a stunning strike into the top corner from 25 yards.

The win lifts PEC Zwolle up to 6th in the league while Excelsior sit 13th.
