PEC Zwolle eased into the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup with a 4-1 win over Eerste Divisie side Excelsior in Rotterdam.

Striker Fred Benson gave Zwolle the best possible start, as he firstly finished a rebound off on eight minutes to give his side the lead, before adding his second two minutes later after a good pass from Giovanni Hiwat.
After their terrible start, Excelsior started to settle, but they could barely the near full strength Eredivisie side, who stretched their lead on 76 minutes through Hiwat.
On 78 minutes Lars Veldwijk gave the home support something to cheer about and saved some pride for Excelsior as he made it 3-1.
However with ten minutes left, Rochdi Achenteh sealed PEC Zwolle’s comfortable win as his shot proved too hot to handle for Excelsior keeper Jordy Deckers.
A dominant display by Ron Jans men, and a welcome relief after recent poor form in the Eredivisie. Excelsior now only have the league to concentrate on, and will look to make the end of season play-offs.
