Excelsior’s decent start to the season continued on Saturday as they came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Willem II.

faik-ecWillem II made a fast start to the game and Fran Sol gave them the lead with a header from Dico Koppers excellent cross after only six minutes.

However, the hosts failed to kill off Excelsior and ten minutes before the end Hicham Faik’s deflected free-kick crept past a wrong-footed Kostas Lamprou to earn the Rotterdam side a point.

Excelsior rise to 7th in the table while Willem II are down in 14th.
