hassel“I am really looking forward to getting back to playing football in the Netherlands,” said the nephew of former Dutch international Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, “then all my family can also watch me every week.”

The 24-year old moved to Scottish club Hamilton fives years ago following his release from PSV. He went on to play for St Mirren and St Johnstone in Scotland before an unsuccessful spell in Greece. The right-winger moved back to Hamilton for the second half of last season but was unable to earn a new contract.

Fans of Excelsior will now hope that this signing is not a potential replacement for Jordan Botaka, who has been linked with a move to Swiss side FC Sion.

Midfielder Tom Overtoom remains on trial at the Kralingers.

I'm a physics student from the UK and a massive Eredivisie fan. Started watching after being inspired by the Netherlands national team after the 2010 World Cup. Wilfred Bouma also has a big part to play in my initial keen interest in the league, being a Villa fan meant I wanted to keep track of my favourite player.
