Excelsior have confirmed the signing of Peer Koopmeiners on loan from AZ Alkmaar for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old is yet to break into the AZ Alkmaar midfielder and the club have allowed him to depart in order to gain some Eredivisie experience.

The brother of Netherlands international Teun Koopmeiners will join up with Excelsior on loan until the end of the season. There is an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

Koopmeiners told the Excelsior website, “Given the number of playing minutes in the first half of the season, I now wanted to make the move to another club.ย That is how I came into contact with Excelsior again.ย The feeling was still very good and after some conversations with technical manager Niels van Duinen and trainer Marinus Dijkhuizen I was quickly in agreement.”

Koopmeiners has made 115 appearances for Jong AZ but only 14 for the first-team.
