texeira dkmdDallas tonight stated on their website that the Uruguayan striker has signed subject to receiving his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.

The 22-year-old joined Groningen as a highly rated prospect from Defensor Sporting in 2011, but has failed to live up to his reputation at the Euroborg. Texeira has made 75 appearances for Groningen, but netted only 16 goals in that time, and has found himself out of favour so far this season, with Michael de Leeuw, and Richairo Zivkovic the clubs prefered strikers.

Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo told the official site, “He’s a striker who finishes, a striker who works extremely hard off the ball and is going to complement what we have already with Escobar, Diaz, Castillo and Blas.”

“He’s a guy we have followed for a long time. He was probably one of the best players in the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia and from there he went to the Netherlands right away. He’s a very talented young man and I don’t believe he has even reached his potential yet. He’s going to be an incredible addition to our roster.”
