Totally against the run of play AZ took the lead just before half time when Steven Berghuis slammed a free kick from the edge of the box past Twente keeper Nick Marsman.

Twente pushed for the equaliser with Dusan Tadic firing wide from in front of goal, while Quincy Promes hit the woodwork at the beginning of the second half.

With 20 minutes left Twente did finally equalise when Tadic’s ball across the box was tapped in from close range by substitute Youness Mokhtar.

Deep into the three minutes of added time, Twente struck to win the game, as Tadic fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to make it 2-1.

The win sees Twente climb above Vitesse into 2nd place, while AZ remain in 7th, and will now look forward to their trip to Russia on Thursday.
