Ron Jans is officially the new head coach of FC Twente on a one-year deal.

Gonzalo García’s contract expired at the end of the season and it was not renewed by the Tukkers. After rejection from Dick Lukkien and Alexander Zorniger, Twente have now turned to Jans.

The 61-year-old has signed a one-year deal to take charge of the club, which will be his fourth job in the Eredivisie. Jans had previously taken charge of Groningen, Heerenveen, and PEC Zwolle.

Jans has been out of work since leaving FC Cincinnati last year amid allegations of racism.

Jans will have to now appoint a new backroom staff with Garcia’s assistants Dennis van der Ree and Peter Niemeyer also let go at the end of the season.
