The licence commission announced on Monday that they had punished the cash-strapped Enschede club after they had withdrew financial statements. The club have been under investigation from the KNVB after several irregularities were discovered in their transfers.
Interim director Onno Jacobs told the clubs official website, “When we recently withdrew the financial statements, we knew that the chances were very high that this would happen. That of course makes it no less painful. Definitely for players and staff, with massive support from fans, week after week to fight for every point.
“We have to accept this and continue to do everything at FC Twente to keep going. We are working with might and main to realize an arrangement with creditors, ”
The three point penalty sees Twente drop from tenth to thirteenth place.
