FC Twente have booked their first victory since mid-September with a 4-1 win over Emmen in Enschede on Friday evening.

The Tukkers made a great start to the campaign but in recent weeks their form had dipped and they went into Friday’s match on a four-game losing streak. Emmen on the other hand, relieved some pressure with a victory over Fortuna Sittard last weekend.

In the 24th minute, the home side took the lead through Haris Vuckic, who found the net after some fortunate luck in the box. Six minutes later, the Slovenian made it 2-0 for Twente after the ball fortunately landed at his feet in front of Emmen goalkeeper Dennis Telgenkamp.

A poor first half got worse for Emmen just before the break when Lindon Selahi fired in a third goal.

Emmen boss Dick Luckien brought off striker Jafar Arias for defender Keziah Veendorp at the break and five minutes into the second half, the change resulted in a goal. Veendorp found the bottom corner from just outside the box to make it 3-1.

There was to be no comeback for Emmen, though, and two minutes before the end, Aitor Cantalapiedra scored a penalty to make it 4-1.

FC Twente rises to tenth while Emmen are 14th.
