FC Twente were battling FC Utrecht for the 20-year-old, along with clubs from Germany and Italy. However, Busquets has chosen FC Twente and will seal a loan deal early next week.
Quoted by Voetbal International, FC Twente boss Gonzalo Garcia said on Friday, “Busquets controls circulation football, has a splitting pass and makes good decisions. Busquets can play 6 and 8, but also has the physical strength to operate centrally in the defence. His arrival gives us many extra options. “
Garcia admitted he is surprised that Busquets is joining, “Of all the interested clubs, we had the least money to spend, so I am surprised by his arrival.
“Maybe it helps that I am a Spanish trainer and that we already have four Spanish players with Aitor, Espinoza, Matos, Pleguezuelo. Busquets initially comes to FC Twente to further develop. He will have few adjustment problems in terms of language and composition of the dressing room. ”
Busquets has made two appearances for Barcelona’s first-team and is a Spanish U21 international.
