rvp feDutch newspaper AD reported last week that the Spanish giants were very interested in signing Van Persie this January, with the club’s scouts set to be present when Fenerbahce host Ajax on Thursday.

However Fenerbahce coach Vitor Pereira to dismiss rumours of a rift with the Dutch striker and insisted he knows nothing of a move to Barcelona.

He said,” I have never had a bad relationship with Robin van Persie. This is purely a question of different visions between a player and a manager. The player has his own vision of the game and the manager has to make optimal use of that in the case of a squad of 25 or 26 players.

“When Robin first came here he had a few physical problems and he is making progress every week and at the moment he wants to play every game. I must use my players the best way possible. I also look to see if they are fit to play 90 minutes and also consecutive matches.

“But I personally have never had a single problem with Robin. The press enjoy to blow up this type of news but between us there is only a difference of insight between player and manager. This is perfectly normal in football. It is nothing more and nothing less.”

“At this moment he is fit and doing well. He can be useful to us. That Barcelona are interested in him I am totally unaware of this. I only know that the press write about these kind of things. The player and the board has not spoken to me about it. I know nothing and I am certainly not going to fuel these rumours, it achieves nothing ‘
