Feyenoord maintained their four point gap in 2nd place and prevented Ajax winning the title by beating RKC 2-0 at De Kuip.

pelle gGraziano Pelle returned to the Feyenoord starting eleven after a four match ban, and it was inevitably the Italian who proved to be the difference as the striker netted both goals.

RKC looked to frustrate the home side by defending deep, and the tactic was working until 38 minutes, when Ruud Vormer slipped a through ball to Pelle, who slotted calmly into the net from just inside the area.

The second half was much like the first with Feyenoord pushing against a defensive RKC, and the second goal finally came on 65 minutes with substitute Ruben Schaken sending in a perfect cross for Pelle to rise and nod into the net.

Two goals were enough for the home side, who close the gap on Ajax to at the top to six points with three games left, while staying four points ahead of Twente in third. RKC remain in the bottom three and are running out of games to avoid the relegation play-offs, as they sit four points from safety.
