Feyenoord are three games away from the Eredivisie title after a hard fought 2-0 win over Utrecht.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was able to recall Terence Kongolo and Nicolai Jorgensen to the starting line-up and the hosts began the game in control with Jens Toornstra and Eljero Elia going close to the opener.

However, Utrecht grew into the game and they came closest to scoring in the first half with Gyrano Kerk hitting the post, while Nacer Barazite also went close to silencing the home crowd.

Three minutes into the second half Feyenoord took the lead with Jorgensen heading a long ball into the path of Toornstra and the midfielder sidefooted it first time into the top corner. Ten minutes before the end, Elia sealed the victory, cutting in from the left before curling an excellent strike into the corner.

The win means Feyenoord will stay at least one point ahead of 2nd placed Ajax, who face Heerenveen on Sunday and PSV next week. Utrecht stay 4th.
