Feyenoord made it three wins from three Eredivisie matches after a 2-0 win over Vitesse Arnhem in De Kuip on Sunday.

fey vit kuytThe first half in De Kuip was a dull affair with Lex Immers early header straight at Eloy Room the closest either side came to an opening goal, although Vitesse were furious that they were not awarded a penalty before the break after Isaiah Brown went down under Rick Karsdorp’s challenge.

Vitesse began the second half brightly, but it was Feyenoord who eventually took the lead on 76 minutes as Dirk Kuyt scored his third penalty in three games after Terence Kongolo was brought down by Guram Kashia.

Winger Bilal Basacikoglu then sealed the win for Feyenoord two minutes later, capitalising on a defensive error by Vitesse before jinking into the box and finishing well past Room.

Feyenoord keep up with leaders Ajax on nine points, while Vitesse sit ninth after their first defeat of the season.
