The home side dominated from the start, but had to wait until the half hour mark to take the lead from the penalty spot, when Samuel Armenteros was fouled in the box, and Ruud Vormer slammed the spot kick into the net.
Before half time it was 2-0, when a free kick was swung into the box by Vormer, and only cleared to the edge of the box, where Pelle brought it down, and fired a half volley straight into the top corner.
In the second half, it was Feyenoord who continued to press for more goals, and they moved 3-0 up on 68 minutes, with left back Miquel Nelom finding the net.
Eight minutes before the end, Roda JC were reduced to ten men, when Henk Dijkhuizen was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Ruben Schaken.
The win was sealed for Feyenoord three minutes later, when John Goossens lashed the ball into the net at the far post, after he was given too much time by the Roda defence.
Feyenoord are the big winners of the weekend, after title challengers Ajax, Feyenoord, Twente, AZ, Zwolle and Vitesse all dropped points, and they closed the gap to the top.
Roda JC suffer only their second loss of the season, and remain in a decent position after their opening five matches.
