Feyenoord are right back in contention for second place in the Eredivisie after a 5-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles at De Kuip.

vil boeWith both Vitesse and PSV Eindhoven slipping up on Saturday, Ronald Keoman’s side knew a win would lift them into 2nd spot before Ajax played Twente.

The home side started brightly and after a number of chances they finally took the lead on 14 minutes as Lex Immers found the bottom corner from just outside the box.

Feyenoord then took their foot of the gas and Go Ahead Eagles came close to equalising just before the break when Jop van der Linden smashed the post with an excellent free kick.

Five minutes into the second half Tonny Vilhena powered a header past Sonny Andersen from Ruben Schaken’s cross to make it 2-0 and ease the nerves at De Kuip.

Jean Paul Boetius added the third from close range on 64 minutes, before striker Mitchell Te Vrede made it 4-0 thirteen minutes later with a nice finish.

With a minute left Ruud Vormer sent Miquel Nelom through on goal, and the left back finished smartly to round off the 5-0 victory.

Feyenoord are now in a commanding position to claim the 2nd Champions League spot with five games to play, while Go Ahead Eagles remain just above the danger zone in 15th.
