Feyenoord put their defeat at Ajax behind them by hammering Go Ahead Eagles in Rotterdam.

Feyenoord put in their poorest performance of the season in the 2-1 defeat at Ajax on Sunday but they put any questions on their title credentials to bed with an emphatic win over Go Ahead Eagles.

It took nine minutes for the hosts to net the opener with Steven Berghuis racing to the byline before pulling back the ball for Jens Toorntra to net. Eljero Elia then made it 2-0 on fifteen minutes with a low strike into the bottom corner from just outside the box.

On the half hour mark, Dirk Kuyt netted a landmark 150th Eredivisie goal with a tap-in to make it 3-0 and before the break both Toornstra and Jan-Arie van der Heijden scored from close range to make it 5-0.

Luckily for the visitors, Feyenoord took their foot off the gas after the break but Eric Botteghin and Michiel Kramer added the sixth and seventh goals. Toornstra then completed his hat-trick near the end with a fine volley in the box to complete the rout.

Feyenoord answered their critics in perfect fashion and remain three points ahead of Ajax with a hugely superior goal difference. Go Ahead Eagles stay bottom.
