Feyenoord has reached an agreement in principle with Orkun Kökçü about a new contract.

The 18-year-old’s current deal expires next summer and this had alerted several big European club’s to his possible availability.

However, Kökçü has now agreed a deal in principle which will keep him in Rotterdam until 2023.

Kökçü made his first-team debut earlier this season and has so far made six Eredivisie appearances, scoring twice.

Speaking to the official Feyenoord website, he said, “With the development that I went through this year, I was able to enforce this. It only motivates me even more to take the next steps. I have talked extensively with the club about the plans with me and I feel confident that here at Feyenoord I can grow.”
