According to Voetbal International, Feyenoord and Watford came to a principal agreement on a €6.5 million fee for the winger, who spent last season on loan in Rotterdam.
Berghuis will now make his way to De Kuip in order to undergo his medical and sign a multi-year contract. The deal should be wrapped up in time for Berghuis to take part in the Johan Cruyff Schaal match with Vitesse next week.
The 25-year-old is Feyenoord’s sixth signing of the summer after Kevin Diks, Ridgeciano Haps, Jerry St Juste, Sofyan Amrabat, and Jean-Paul Boetius. The Eredivisie holders aren’t done in the market though and still hope to sign Robin van Persie from Fenerbahce before the window closes next month.
