Should Feyenoord beat Trencin over two legs in their Europa League third-round qualifier, they will face either Sturm Graz or AEK Larnaca in the final qualifying match before the group stage. Vitesse may face Apollon Limassol or Dinamo Brest if they can defeat FC Basel.

With AZ Alkmaar already knocked out of Europa League qualifying, it is up to Feyenoord and Vitesse to make it four Dutch teams representing the Netherlands in this season’s European competitions.

Feyenoord must first beat Slovakian side AS Trencin, with the first match between the two sides on Thursday evening. However, facing the Dutch giants in the next round will either be AEK Larnaca, who finished fourth in the Cypriot League last season, or Austrians Sturm Graz, who were comprehensively beaten 5-1 on aggregate by Ajax in Champions League qualifying.

Whereas for Leonid Slutsky’s Vitesse Arnhem, Apollon Limassol (another Cypriot team), or Diego Maradona’s Dinamo Brest from Belarus await. Vitesse must first beat Swiss champions FC Basel though to reach the final round of qualifying before the group stage.

I'm a physics student from the UK and a massive Eredivisie fan. Started watching after being inspired by the Netherlands national team after the 2010 World Cup. Wilfred Bouma also has a big part to play in my initial keen interest in the league, being a Villa fan meant I wanted to keep track of my favourite player.
