bronckThe Rotterdam club are already ‘winter champions’, despite having to play Vitesse on Saturday, they cannot lose first position going into the winter break. However, even though the title is purely symbolic, Van Bronckhorst believes that the current squad is capable of lifting the real thing in May without additional reinforcements.

The former Dutch international told RTV Rijnmond that “There is not much money [left for transfers], but I am very happy especially about how my players have done in the first half of the season. Therefore, I do not think it is necessary to invest in the winter.”

However, Van Bronckhorst did concede that he would be forced to evaluate the situation if players left the club, with Kongolo and Karsdorp, in particular, strongly linked with moves to the Premier League.

“you never know how a window will evolve and you have to deal with personal situations of boys. You can never rule out anything, but we prefer to keep everyone together.” Van Bronckhorst told VI.nl.

If Feyenoord can keep the squad together, the return of Kenneth Vermeer, Terrace Kongolo and Sven Van Beek from long term injuries will add depth, as they look to maintain their current form and claim their first Eredivisie title since 1999.
