Feyenoord are now second in the Eredivisie after a 1-0 win over Cambuur on Thursday evening.

With Ajax drawing against Vitesse on Wednesday, Feyenoord knew a win would take them second and level on points with PSV. They got off to a perfect start with Quilindschy Hartman hammering in an opening goal after only three minutes.

Feyenoord could have extended their lead before the break but Dávid Hancko headed against the post, while Igor Paixão was denied by goalkeeper João Virginia.

León Bergsma had hit the post for Cambuur and early in the second half, Justin Bijlow had to make a good save to deny Calvin Mac-Intosch.

Feyenoord could not find the killer goal as Patrik Wålemark had an effort cleared from the line and towards the end, Cambuur pushed. However, Feyenoord managed to hold on through some nervy moments.

Feyenoord are now second while Cambuur is 17th.
