West Brom sacked coach Steve Clarke in December, but took their time to announce his replacement, with Pepe Mel unveiled three weeks later.
According to De Telegraaf, West Brom approached Ronald Koeman, but they Feyenoord coach rejected their offer in order to stay in Rotterdam.
Koeman’s contract is up in the summer, and it has been widely reported that the former Valencia, Benfica, and Ajax coach is set to leave the club he has coached since 2011.
However De Telegraaf also state that it is likely that Koeman will now sign a contract extension with Feyenoord, as other options appear to be running out.
The 50-year-old was interested in becoming the Netherlands coach this summer when Louis van Gaal leaves, but the KNVB instead chose Guus Hiddink.
Feyenoord are currently fighting for the Eredivisie title, with Koeman’s side only four points off the top of the table.
