toonBoth clubs agreed a deal thought to be worth €3.5 million for the 25-year-old on Friday, with Feyenoord presenting the midfielder to the media today.

Toornstra told the official Feyenoord site, “The move to Feyenoord comes at a good time for me, I was ready for a step up,”

“Feyenoord is also my club from childhood. I’m very excited to get to work here. ”

Toornstra started his career with ADO Den Haag, and made over 100 league appearances for the club, before joining Utrecht in January 2013. The two-time Dutch international was the key player for Utrecht over the past two seasons, netting 17 times in 46 league matches.

Feyenoord have now made six signings this summer, with Toornstra following Warner Hahn, Luke Wilkshire, Khalid Boulahrouz, Bilal Basacikoglu, and Colin Kazim Richards through the door at De Kuip. Coach Fred Rutten will be hoping to add a new striker before the transfer window slams shut next week, with Nice’s Dario Cvitanich the latest name to be linked.
