Feyenoord have sealed their first Eredivisie championship since 1999 with a Dirk Kuyt hat-trick guiding them to a 3-1 win over Heracles Almelo on the last day of the season.

Having failed to clinch the title last week in Excelsior, Feyenoord went into last day of the season with a home tie against Heracles, only one point ahead of Ajax, who travelled to Willem II.

Dirk Kuyt started what could be his final match for Feyenoord in place of the suspended Tonny Vilhena, and the veteran proved to be the hero with a hat-trick which sealed a rather comfortable 3-1 win over Heracles. Ajax won 3-1 at Willem II but that proved to be futile with Feyenoord sealing their first league championship in 18 years.

Kuyt lifted the Eredivisie Schaal to confirm a wonderful season for the club, and the party in Rotterdam is set to go on long into the night.
