Funds at Feyenoord are tight this summer with the club focusing on free transfers and loan deals.
Bryan Linssen was a target, butt he Vitesse forward rejected Feyenoord’s contract offer. Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, Arnesen said he really wanted to sign Linssen, “But it is not the case that if we make an offer to a player and he does not immediately sign, that we can add a lot of money. We are not at all in that situation,”
Arnesen is positive that Leroy Fer and Eric Botteghin will sign new deals, “No, the conversations with those players about a new contract are ongoing and also in a very good atmosphere. I am positive. I certainly do not have the idea that it is impossible to get out of that.”
Edgar Ie and Oguzhan Özyakup played on loan at Feyenoord this season and the club are hoping to renew those deals for another season. However, Arnesen admits it’s out of their hands, “At Ié we depend on Trabzonspor. If that club wants to sell him, it will be difficult and we will drop out. If he can be let for another year, we have to see if that is possible for us.”
“It may be more difficult with Özyakup. A good boy and a good player, but Besiktas decides. And the question is whether we can pay him again as we succeeded in the winter break.”
