Feyenoord will face Utrecht in the European playoff final after a 2-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam.

Feyenoord went into the game on the back of the confidence boosting win over RKC Waalwijk at the weekend and they looked confident from the start. Nicolai Jorgensen hit the woodwork early on.

In the 31st minute, Adil Auassar brought down Ridgeciano Haps, earning Feyenoord a penalty, which Steven Berghuis netted to make it 1-0. A minute later, Luis Sinisterra crossed the ball looking for Jorgensen, but Tom Beugelsdijk got the final touch and the Sparta defender scored an own-goal to put Feyenoord 2-0 up.

In the second half, Sparta goalkeeper Maduka Okoye kept the score down with good saves to deny Mark Diemers and Jens Toornstra, while Orkun Kokcu hit the post.

The victory means Feyenoord will face Utrecht in the final for a spot in the UEFA Conference League. Kick-off on Saturday is at 7pm BST. The match is a problem for local authorities with the Eurovision Song contest also taking place in the city on the same evening.
