Feyenoord once again did not secure three points in the Eredivisie as Heracles Almelo left De Kuip with a 1-1 draw.

Before the international break, Feyenoord fell to a poor 4-2 defeat against Fortuna Sittard which increased the pressure on Jaap Stam. Against Heracles, Nicolai Jorgensen returned to the starting eleven up front. Marcos Senesi also started for the first time.

After 14 minutes, Feyenoord had the lead when Jens Toornstra found the top corner with a fierce strike.

Feyenoord should have made it 2-0 before the break but Luis Sinisterra was denied by Janis Blaswich before firing the rebound over the bar.

Early in the second half, Mauro Junior went down in the box under a challenge from Senesi but no penalty was given. The Brazilian almost equalised moments later but his strike went just past the post.

The draw means Heracles remain ninth and one spot above Feyenoord.

Just after the hour mark, Heracles did equalise through Orestis Kiomourtzoglou. The Greek midfielder fired last Kenneth Vermeer after bustling past two Feyenoord defenders.

Feyenoord went looking for a winner but Luciano Narsingh’s goalbound effort was cleared off the line by Mats Knoester.
