Feyenoord comfortably defeated Willem II 4-0 in their opening league game of the season.

New signing Fredrik Aursnes immediately started for Feyenoord, while Alireza Jahanbakhsh was missing due to an ankle issue.

The first chance of the game fell to Willem II but Justin Bijlow made a good save to deny Kwasi Wreidt’s header. In the 17th minute, the goal came at the other end with Bryan Linssen finding the net from distance.

In the 25th minute, it was 2-0 with Luis Sinisterra surprising Robbin Ruiter after a nice piece of individual skill.

Willem II could not deal with Feyenoord’s pressure and after a mistake from Ulrik Jenssen, Guus Til added a third for the visitors three minutes into the second half.

Emil BergstrΓΆm was sent off for Willem II in the 59th minute for a wild challenge on Sinisterra and Feyenoord comfortably saw out the rest of the game. A fourth goal came in injury time through substitute Naoufal Bannis, who tapped in.

A great victory for Feyenoord who now face Elfsborg in the Europa Conference League on Thursday. Willem II visits Vitesse Arnhem next weekend.
