The Rotterdam City council have given Feyenoord the green light to build a new stadium and have committed €135 million to the project.

Work on the project being called Feyenoord city will begin shortly with the stadium, which will be the biggest in the Netherlands, set to be completed by 2022.

Rotterdam municipality have pledged €135 million to the project, which means they now own 40 million shares and the ground that the stadium will be built on. That will be made available on payment of the lease. €35 million has been pledged for new roads and bridges around the new stadium.

Work is set to begin in 2019 and the new stadium will hold over 63,000 fans. It is set to cost in total €365 million to construct the ground and surrounding area.
