Despite Nicolai Jorgensen and Sven van Beek returning to fitness, Giovanni van Bronckhorst continued with Jean-Paul Boetius through the middle and Renato Tapia in defence alongside Jerry St Juste. However, after only twenty minutes, van Beek was called into action after Tapia suffered an injury.
The hosts failed to impress in the first half and the best chances of the half fell to PEC Zwolle, although Brad Jones was never really troubled. Finally, Feyenoord came to life in the second period, but Diederik Boer saved a Van Beek header and Steven Berghuis fired a good chance wide.
Finally, Jorgensen was summoned from the bench and the Dane nearly made the difference straight away with a fierce strike that was pushed over the bar. Despite five minutes of added on time, Feyenoord couldn’t find a winner with Jens Toornstra’s free kick from the edge of the box fired wide.
Feyenoord drop below Ajax and into third while PEC Zwolle remain fourth.
