Feyenoord dropped points at home on Saturday as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Fortuna Sittard.

Fortuna Sittard have had a resurgence under new coach Julio Velázquez, who is so far unbeaten since taking charge of the Limburg side.

After ten minutes, Fortuna had the lead with Inigo Cordoba netting on the rebound after Burak Yilmaz had been denied by Justin Bijlow.

Feyenoord had plenty of possession but they struggled to create any clear-cut chances and they were lucky that Fortuna didn’t take a 2-0 lead into the break. Yilmaz missed two big chances to put his side further in front.

Arne Slot reacted by making a triple change at half time as Danilo, Patrik Wålemark and Marcos López came in for Marcus Pedersen, Jacob Rasmussen and Santiago Giménez.

Four minutes into the second half, Javairo Dilrosun found the bottom corner with the outside of his boot to equalise after Danilo had robbed George Cox.

Feyenoord poured forward looking for the winner but goalkeeper Ivor Pandur denied Walemark, Orkun Kokcu and a header from substitute Igor Paixão. A late strike from Sebastian Szymanski also went just wide as the visitors escaped with a point.

Feyenoord remains third with the point while Fortuna is now 9th.
