dost wolf psFeyenoord have identified Bas Dost as the man to help propel them into league title contention. The Rotterdam club have been short on goals this season with not only Ajax and PSV outscoring them, but also falling behind AZ Alkmaar. Therefore, the club have decided to invest in a new striker for the coming season and Bas Dost is their preferred choice.

The Dutchman has been at Wolfsburg since 2012 netting thirty-six goals in eighty appearances for the wolves. Dost is under contract at Wolfsburg until 2017, so any deal will not come cheap for Feyenoord, and his value is around € 7 million. This would represent a significant outlay for the club as last year their biggest transfer was Marko Vejinovic from Vitesse for around €3.5-4 million. However, it would be a real statement of intent and a warning shot to Ajax and PSV that the title is no longer a two horse race.

The arrival of Dost would not spell the end for Kramer, who has fourteen goals this season, as the two would be expected to form a deadly partnership upfront. Feyenoord are also competing in the Europa League this season so the choice of two natural strikers up front would be a bonus. Dost could favour a move to Rotterdam to help get his career back on track, he scored forty-five goals in sixty-six appearances in a two-year stint at SC Heerenveen.

Feyenoord have been interested in Dost before, during this time at Heerenveen, but were unwilling to invest to bring the striker to De Kuip. Just maybe, this time they can push the deal through….
