Feyenoord have beaten Ajax and PSV in a recent poll of the Netherlands’ most popular sports teams.

The Metro.nl reports, after a survey conducted by Hendrik Beerda Brand Consultancy, that Feyenoord is the most popular club in the Netherlands ahead of both the national team and Eredivise heavyweights Ajax and PSV. Normally, especially in a World Cup or European Championship year, the Dutch national side tops the list, but this year is different with the national slipping to third.
Feyenoord have enjoyed a solid season, with a third place finish, and also ended their long trophy drought by winning the KNVB Beker. These factors, along with the Dutch failure to qualify for Euro 2016, will have contributed to propelling them up the list into first position.
There was further good news for Feyenoord as Dirk Kuyt made the top ten sports athletes coming in sixth position.
