The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Willem II but only made 11 appearances, scoring three times. Schuurman is still highly rated in Rotterdam, but with no first team action in sight, he has been sent out to NEC Nijmegen for the season, joining Feyenoord teammate Calvin Verdonk.
NEC technical director Remco Oversier told the club’s website, “Jari is an attacking midfielder who can also play on the left side.
“With Jari’s attractiveness, we are now also bringing the midfield well in balance, as he is a type of attacking midfielder we do not have in the team yet. This provides a variety of choices within the team’s team organization and playing style.”
NEC have had a busy transfer market as they prepare for their return to the Eerste Divisie. Including Schuurman and Verdonk, they have added nine new players to their squad. Anass Achahbar and Ted van de Pavert on loan from PEC Zwolle, Kevin Jansen, Guus Joppen, Suently Alberto, Sven Braken and Mart Dijkstra.
