toorn adFeyenoord will reportedly pay around €3.5 million to sign the 25-year-old, who will undergo a medical early next week before putting pen to paper on a four-year-deal in Rotterdam. Twenty percent of the fee will go to Toornstra’s former club ADO Den Haag.

Toornstra signed for Utrecht in 2013,  and made 46 league appearances for the club, scoring 16 times, including the opener in a 2-1 win over Willem II last week. The midfielder has two caps for the Dutch national team.

Interestingly Utrecht travel to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord this weekend, but Toornstra will be absent with a back injury, which forced Toornstra to miss training this morning.

Feyenoord fans will be wondering what the signing of Toornstra means for the future of captain Jordy Clasie, who has been heavily linked with a move to Porto. The Portuguese side were rumoured to have an €8 million bid for the midfielder rejected, but the arrival of Toornstra may quicken a deal.
