boulahrouzThe 32-year-old was a free agent after leaving Danish club Brondby, and on Monday signed a deal with Feyenoord for one year, but there is an option to extend for another season.

Boulahrouz, who can play centrally or at right back, started his career with RKC Waalwijk before moving to Germany with Hamburg. After a successful time with Hamburg moves to Chelsea, Stuttgart, and Sporting Lisbon followed before signing for Brondby in 2013. Boulahrouz also has 35 caps for the Dutch national team.

After announcing the deal, Feyenoord director Martin van Geel told the official site, “He is very fit and in addition can be used in several positions in the defense.”

“With his experience and skills he can also be of great value for the development of the younger players in our selection. We see Khalid a very welcome reinforcement for this team.”

The signing of Boulahrouz will provide cover for Fred Rutten’s team with defenders Bruno Martins Indi, Stefan de Vrij, and Daryl Janmaat all expected to leave.
