Gustafson, who has been capped twice by the national team and was a member of the Under 21 side that won the European Championship last month arrives for a fee of €1.5 million from Swedish side BK Häcken.

“We have followed Simon very intensively” said Feyenoord’s technical director Martin van Geel. “So we are very happy to have him at Feyenoord for several years.” Van Geel has been impressed by Gustafson’s ability to chip in with a goal; in 68 league matches with Häcken he scored 14 times.

He is Feyenoord’s third signing of the summer, after the arrivals of Dirk Kuyt and Marko Vejinovic from Fenerbache and Vitesse respectively.
