According to Algemeen Dagblad, Feyenoord have contacted Jaap Stam about becoming their new head coach.

Feyenoord director Jan de Jong was a guest on Studio Voetbal on Sunday night and confirmed that the club was close to an agreement with a new head coach and that a deal could be done in the next two weeks.

AD believes that Stam is the man that Feyenoord wants to replace Van Bronckhorst, who announced his decision to leave the club earlier this year.

The former defender only took charge of PEC Zwolle two months ago and signed a two-year deal, meaning Feyenoord would have to pay a fee to take the coach to De Kuip.

Dick Advocaat was Feyenoord’s first choice but he turned down the role.
