Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Virgil van Dijk have all been nominated for the FIFA Mens Player of the Year award.

FIFA revealed their ten man shortlist on Wednesday with three Dutchmen in the running for the prize.

De Ligt and De Jong played a leading role as Ajax reached the Champions League semi-finals, while also winning the Eredivisie. Van Dijk lifted the Champions League trophy with Liverpool and had an excellent season in the Premier League.

The trio were also heavily involved as Netherlands reached the UEFA Nations League final.

The other players nominated are Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Kylian Mbappe.
