Ahead of the crucial September Euro2020 qualifiers, Netherlands trainer Ronald Koeman has decided upon his final squad, whittling five names from his initial provisional selection.

The Netherlands play Germany on Friday, 6th September, followed by another away fixture to Estonia on Monday, 9th September.
Koeman will take 24 men to both matches, having dropped five players from his initial selection: Marco Bizot, Terence Kongolo, Hans Hateboer, Donny van de Beek and Wout Weghorst. All are down to Koeman’s preference, except for Ajax midfielder van de Beek, who is currently out injured.
That means a first cap may well be on offer for PSV’s young striker Donyell Malen. Another notable call-up is for in-form Feyenoord winger Steven Berghuis.
Netherlands squad:
Goalkeepers: Jasper Cillessen, Kenneth Vermeer, Jeroen Zoet
Defenders: Patrick van Aanholt, Nathan Aké, Daley Blind, Virgil van Dijk, Denzel Dumfries, Matthijs de Ligt, Joel Veltman, Stefan de Vrij
Midfielders: Frenkie de Jong, Davy Propper, Marten de Roon, Kevin Strootman, Tonny Vilhena, Georginio Wijnaldum
Forwards: Steven Berghuis, Steven Bergwijn, Donyell Malen, Luuk de Jong, Memphis Depay, Quincy Promes
form this selection i am sure that koeman will go again without a striker and that is our weakest point in the team we need someone who can score goals only depay who make threat inside the box bergwjin, babel and promes they just dribble but no big threat on the opponents so what is the reason of not trying to play with a striker with two wingers like depay and bergwijn/malen/promes it would be better if he replaced babel with weghourst who has been doing well for a long time in the bundesliga you are always letting this lad down and we deadly need him in the future.
another point,
Davy klassen and michel vlap are doing well with thier clubs i dont know what is the reason of not calling one of them instead of strootman how has been out of form for years
Most of this is consistent with what has worked reasonably well the last year, though I’m a bit disappointed Weghorst is still being overlooked.
Biggest concern is Veltman over Hateboer. Just because Ajax made the UCL doesn’t mean Veltman has suddenly become a solid defender. I’m crossing my fingers that Dumfries stays healthy, otherwise Germany will run circles around Veltman all night.
