FC Twente have pulled themselves away from the relegation zone after a 3-1 win over an out of sorts Utrecht.

utree tweThe home side flew out of the traps and had the lead after only four minutes with Bruno Uvini finishing Hakim Ziyech’s corner. On eight minutes it was 2-0 with Ziyech once again the provider as he found Zakaria El Azzouzi in the box, and the Ajax loanee made no mistake to net his first Eredivisie goal.

Utrecht were clearly suffering from their lack of defensive options, and they conceded a third before the break with Felipe Gutierrez latching onto a short corner before firing past Robbin Ruiter.

In the second half the away side improved and they pinned Twente back, but they were only able to find one consolation goal with Ruud Boymans finishing on the rebound after Nick Marsman denied Bart Ramselaar.

Twente lift themselves to 15th, but they will be fearing the loss of Ziyech on transfer deadline day, with Leicester City sending a scout to watch the match, while Hoffenheim and Sampdoria remain interested. Utrecht remain 7th.
