Keep the podcasts going going guys. They are great, especially for us with Dutch heritage and love of the Oranje but don’t understand much Dutch language.
I’d like to suggest more discussion (a podcast perhaps) on the 6,8,10 positions in Dutch football such as: why they are fundamental to the success of the team and why the lack of world class players in these positions is intrinsically linked to the decline in Dutch football, who should currently play in these positions, who has the potential to succeed in them, and does the acadamies and NT selectors need to be thinking differently about the type of players required in these positions.
At the moment there seems to be a general acceptance of Strootman at 6 and Wijnaldum at 8 and Klassen at 10. I think they are way off the mark. When Vilhena came on against Italy it was clear we need two of him in the 6 and 8. It is clear also that if this type of player was anchoring these midfield positions then Klassen is not the type of no.10 to play ahead of them.
Until the type/style of player in these positions are sorted out the selection of the players around them are almost irrelevant. I’d be interested in your thoughts.
