In a battle at the bottom of the table, Fortuna Sittard defeated ADO Den Haag 1-0 in Limburg.

Fortuna Sittard went into the clash sitting 16th and on the back of a 6-0 loss to Utrecht. ADO Den Haag were two places above them but more confident after a win against Vitesse and draw with Heerenveen.

It was the hosts who dominated, however, and they had the lead just before the break when Martin Angha headed the ball on to Amadou Ciss, who slotted in unchallenged.

Early in the second half, Alexei Koselev denied Lex Immers and the rebound fell to Tom Beugelsdijk, who struck the post. At the other end, Felix Passlack also saw an effort come back off the woodwork.

ADO Den Haag thought they had the equaliser when Tomas Necid fired into the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

The end of the game saw things get heated, especially after a late challenge by Beugelsdijk on Ciss, which led to a scuffle between some of the coaching staff.

Fortuna Sittard held on through six minutes of added on time to seal a win which moves them up to 14th, while ADO Den Haag fall into the drop zone on goal difference.
