Fortuna Sittard must wait for Leandro Fernandes to make his debut with the Juventus loanee returning to Turin in order to recover from an injury.

The Dutchman signed for Fortuna on a season-long loan deal on the final day of the transfer window but has been absent from the club’s two games that followed.

Fortuna coach Sjors Ultee confirmed after their 4-2 defeat at Vitesse that Fernandes was recovering from injury but could not say more due to privacy laws.

The 19-year-old has also returned to Turin in order to recover, possibly meaning that it will be a while before he can make his debut. A statement on the club’s website read, “Fortuna Sittard wishes Leandro a lot of strength during his recovery period and hopes to see him again soon in Sittard.”
