Fortuna Sittard scored a 90th-minute equaliser as they came from 3-1 down to earn a 3-3 draw Emmen.

Emmen have recorded two victories so far this season but were yet to win in their own stadium. The game with Fortuna presented an excellent opportunity to get their first win in front of their fans.

Fortuna were the more dangerous side early on but it was Emmen who took a lead into the break as Alexander Bannink’s strike from a tight angle squeezed past Alexai Koselev. Moments later, Glenn Bijl was unlucky to see his strike hit the post.

In the 65th minute, Emmen doubled their lead with Jafar Arias heading in a free kick, but Fortuna quickly got themselves back in the game through Lisandro Semedo, who raced through on goal before slipping the ball past Kjell Scherpen.

In the 73rd minute, Bannink appeared to seal the win for Emmen after he scored on a one-on-one with Koselev. However, Finn Stokkers headed over an advanced Scherpen to make it 3-2 and in the final minute José Rodríguez broke the home fans hearts. The Spaniard headed a free-kick past Scherpen to earn Fortuna a point.

The draw means Emmen sit 14th with Fortuna Sittard a place behind them.
