Fortuna Sittard came from behind three times to earn a 4-4 draw with Willem II in Limburg.

Both sides went on the attack from the start and in the fourteenth minute the opening goal came for Fortuna Sittard. Wessel Dammers netted from a corner after getting ahead of Fernando Lewis.

Willem II equalised in the 27th minute when Ahmed El Messaoudi headed the ball into his own net under pressure from Fran Sol, who headed the away side in front seven minutes later.

Before the break, it was 2-2 as Andrija Novakovich got the better of Lewis before beating Wellenreuther in the Willem II goal.

The second half was as open as the first and in the 47th minute, Donis Avdijaj was set on goal by Daniel Crowley and the forward made no mistake to restore Willem II’s lead. Seven minutes later, Novakovich cut past Damil Dankerlui before finding the far corner to make it 3-3.

Crowley then found the net with a deflected shot to make it 4-3 to Willem II but once again they couldn’t hold onto the lead with José Rodríguez scoring from a Mark Diemers free-kick.

Sol and Avdijaj went close to the winner for the visitors but in the end they settled for a point. Willem II sit eighth while Fortuna are 11th.
