Dick Advocaat has called up Timothy Fosu-Mensah to the Dutch national team for the first time.

The Crystal Palace defender, who is on loan from Manchester United, has been added to the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against France and Bulgaria. He joins due to doubts over the fitness of Kenny Tete who is struggling with a knee problem.

Fosu-Mensah was originally selected in the Netherlands U21 squad but now has the chance to make his debut for the full national team. Should he appear against France or Bulgaria it will end speculation over his international future, with the 19-year-old also coveted by Ghana.

Netherlands face France on Thursday before a tie with Bulgaria three days later.
